This week has been slightly derailed by Poetry Drama [TM]. None of it is mine: I spent an hour on Monday writing to a poetry organisation asking for help with my own particular issue. I am looking reasonably critically at how long it takes for a response to arrive, as I know the original message has been read. My drama is being approached sensibly and dispassionately.
This Other Drama has everything to do with contracts and royalties and how individuals at the head of organisations use their time and money. In the last few months I have heard a lot of horror stories about the lifestyle I ascribe to. All of them involve men, and their inability to be either consistent or professional. I’m also reminded of how airing dirty laundry remains a very unBritish thing to do.
I think people need to get over themselves and be more honest.
We will have a trailer by the end of the month. There will be enough ‘content’ from this to last me for quite some time. Next week I’m focusing on clearing away the old wood here and getting my website ready to work, and doing publicity for the New Poetry Thing that begins in September. There has also been some rather satisfying poetry work which will go off for submission at the weekend.
This should also have been published yesterday but instead, I was doing some legwork to find a backup venue for something I’d thought was done and dusted. Whatever now happens, I have somewhere in which to launch a new project. We’ll talk at more length about this on my personal blog. I also have a bit of an issue with my right foot at present and pain is not conducive to concentration.
There is a LOT going on, people. I would not have it any other way.
